Best advice for teatime? Just do it.

One of my favorite daily rhythms is teatime.

For us, teatime honestly happens every school day and is as much a part of our schedule as lunch.

It doesn’t have to be fancy or extravagant, although we do love our pretty dishes from thrift stores! (And to be clear, we break something on average twice a week and I break more than the kids. Our teacups are mostly either free or under a dollar. 😂)

For us, teatime usually happens mid afternoon about 3 or 4pm and almost always involves eating something delicious and yummy that we either baked or got from the store. (Butter cookies from Aldi are super cheap and perfect for teatime.) For quick baked treat try scones, blueberry muffins or chocolate chip cookies.

I drink black tea and the kids go back and forth between tea, milk, or juice. I highly recommend Yorkshire Gold! My kids and I also enjoy Twinings Honeybush, Mandarin & Orange Herbal Tea.

We light a candle, turn on some music and then just enjoy each other!! More often than not we chat about our day, make cards for a friend, work on watercolors (mom’s favorite) or build and discuss our legos. (Legos are an endless source of conversation)

Not everyone has the kind of schedule where this is possible. But it’s been the sweetest time for me and my darling boys.

Spending time enjoying your kids is always worth the effort.
